In honor of Mountain Island Lake's 100th year, Quest is hosting a centennial celebration in 2024! The lake supports our community in a number of ways, including electricity generation, drinking water, and recreation opportunities. Visit Quest any time from April through September to learn more and make Mountain Island Lake a part of your life.

Discover the value of water through a variety of hands-on Science activities generously provided by partner organizations including Charlotte Water, Duke Energy, and Catawba Riverkeeper.
Paddle out to enjoy a day on the lake! We'll have reservable canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards, or sign up to bring your own. There will be music, games, and plenty of open water for all!
Registration is required. Participants will receive an identifier and a swag bag upon registration.

Sunset Full Moon Paddle

Explore the shorelines of Mountain Island Lake from your kayak as the sun sets and then experience them again in the light of the full moon. Our ACA certified staff are there to make this an enjoyable experience for paddlers of all skill levels. Registration Required - Click here.

Interested in paddling by yourself or as a family but want to know more before you go? Stop by the waterfront lawn to chat with Quest paddle instructors about water safety tips and how to safely paddle North Carolina’s waterways.
Stream Science Hike
